Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest Cat-Napping Burglar Caught in the Act


At about 4:00 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2015, officers from District C-11(Dorchester) responded to a breaking and entering in the area of 16 Greenwich Street.

The female victim walked into District C-11 to report that someone had broken into her house and was currently still there. The elderly female victim further stated she noticed the suspect in her son's room and utilized a chain and padlock to lock the suspect in the room. Officers responded to the location, approached the rear door, knocked loudly, and announced their presence. Upon receiving no response, officers utilized the keys to the padlock and opened the door. Officers located the male suspect who was lying on a couch and appeared to be sleeping. Officers attempted to wake the suspect several times to no avail. Finally the suspect awakened, jumped up and began shouting at the officers. After a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue the suspect.

The suspect, 27-year-old Rene Nguyen of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime and Resisting Arrest.
