UPDATE: Several Community Tips Help BPD Homicide Investigators Track Down Suspect Wanted in Connection to Fatal Shooting in area of 124 Telford Street in Brighton

Today, Friday, November 6, 2015, acting on several anonymous tips, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, Homicide Unit and U.S. Marshals Task Force located and arrested Gammada Musa, 25, of Brighton and charged him with Murder in the shooting death of Desmond Joseph, 30, of Allston. Musa will be arraigned in Brighton District Court on Monday.

Approximately two weeks ago, on Thursday, October 22, 2015, officers from District D-14 (Brighton) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 124 Telford Street in Brighton. On arrival, officers located a male victim, later identified as Desmond Joseph, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Joseph was pronounced deceased on the scene.

After a complete and thorough review of the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident, detectives were able to identify Gammada Musa as the person responsible for the shooting death of Desmond Joseph. In the days after the incident, detectives reached out to community members seeking their help, information and assistance in hopes of locating the suspect.  Thanks to several tips sent anonymously to the BPD’s CrimeStoppers Unit, investigators were able to track down and apprehend the suspect in New Bedford, MA.

Thanks to the community’s help and belief in the idea that our city can be a safer place when we all work together, a dangerous felon is off the streets and in police custody.”
