At about 2:10 PM on Wednesday December 23, 2015, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) made an arrest and recovered a loaded firearm after an attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle at 1 Lincoln Street.  An officer was on patrol when he was flagged down at Washington and Summer Streets by a Security Guard from a parking garage at 1 Lincoln Street who stated that he had been following a suspect who had attempted to break into a car.  The witness stated that he observed the suspect, later identified as Scott Mothersil, 23, of Hyde Park, enter the garage with two other unidentified male suspects and attempt gain entry to a parked motor vehicle.  The three men left the garage after failing to break into the vehicle.  The witness stated that he had followed one of the suspects, Mothersil, to the area where he flagged down the officer.  The witness was able to point out the suspect who was now walking away on Winter Street towards Tremont Street.  The officer quickly stopped the suspect in the area of 30 Winter Street.  After a brief exchange during which the suspect was acting nervously and attempting to keep the right side of his body away from the officer, a pat frisk was performed and a loaded Hi-Point 9mm handgun was recovered from the right side jacket pocket of the suspect.  The suspect was then placed in custody without incident at which time he stated to the officer, “I could’ve run and shot ya’ll.”  The suspect has been charged in Boston Municipal Court with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Attempted Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle.
