Daily Dose of Great Police Work: DCU Officers Uncover Motor Vehicle "Hide," Recover Drugs and Money

At about 12:55 PM on Monday, June 22, 2015, members of the District B-3 (Mattapan) Drug Control Unit executed a number of search warrants in the area of 2 Browning Avenue, Dorchester.

After receiving information that a female was distributing heroin from the above area, officers from the DCU launched an investigation. Through this investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect as 40-year-old Bethzaida Gonzalez-Rodriguez of Dorchester and obtain the proper search warrants for her residence and vehicle.

Officers set up surveillance of Gonzalez-Rodriguez, and subsequently observed a drug transaction take place in the suspect’s vehicle. Officers stopped the buyer, and after recovering heroin from his person, he admitted purchasing the drugs from the female in the vehicle. Officers issued a summons for this suspect for Possession of Class A Drugs (Heroin). Officers conducted a stop of the motor vehicle and placed Gonzalez-Rodriguez under arrest for Distribution of Class A Drugs (Heroin). Officers located a mechanical "hide" in the driver’s side sliding door of the suspect’s mini-van.

The following were recovered during the search warrant execution:

  • Approximately $2,700 in US currency
  • 86 grams of cocaine
  • 35 grams of heroin
  • 5 grams of crack cocaine
  • 15 Gabapentin pills

Gonzalez-Rodriguez was also charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Heroin), Trafficking Class B Drugs (Cocaine), Distribution of Class A (Heroin), and Possession of Class C Drugs (Gabapentin).
