One Less Gun: Officer Recover Shotgun After Routine Traffic Stop In Roxbury

What began a motor vehicle stop for a minor infraction ended with a recovered shotgun and an arrest last night.  At about 11:21 PM officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a car driving down Blue Hill Avenue without a front license plate attached.  The officers stopped the motor vehicle near 245 Blue Hill Avenue and approached to speak with the driver, later identified as Jamar Reed, 34, of Roxbury.  After the operator informed the officers that his driver’s license was suspended, that information was confirmed and he was placed under arrest without incident.  Prior to towing the car, officers located and recovered a Harrington and Richardson Arms 12 gauge shotgun and a bag of ammunition which were lying across the back seat of the car under a white towel.  Officers later recovered BB handgun from the trunk of the vehicle.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Operating a Motor Vehicle After Suspension.
