Gun Taken in Incident #2

Incident #2:  At about 1:26 AM on Sunday July 5, 2015, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 36 Savin Street in Roxbury.  Officers were in the area on directed patrol in response to several recent incidents of shootings, shots fired and gang related activities.  Officers observed a suspect known to them as Jenry Gonzalez, 22 of Boston, walking on Quincy Street and pulled their cruiser over to speak with him.  As officers approached, the suspect suddenly took off running while clutching at the right side of his waistband area.  The suspect led the officers on a lengthy foot chase through several backyards, hopping over fences while trying to evade them.  As officers gained ground on the suspect, they observed him discard what was later revealed to be a Walther .22 caliber handgun (see photo).  Officers were able to place the suspect in custody and recover the firearm.  It was later revealed that the gun had been stolen in 2011 from Leominster MA.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property and Trespassing.
