Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick-Acting & Ever-Vigilant BPD Officers Subdue Suspect Wanted in Connection to Non-fatal Shooting in Dorchester

At about 1:14 AM on Sunday, September 6, 2015, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they heard the sound of gunshots in the area of Dudley and Clarence Streets. Upon hearing the shots, officers instinctively began scanning the area when they observed an individual running away from the scene. Upon seeing the fleeing suspect, officers immediately exited their cruiser and began chasing the suspect on foot. After a lengthy foot pursuit which led officers up and down several streets, through several yards and over several fences, officers were able to catch up to and subdue the suspect in the area of Magazine and George Streets. During the foot chase, additional units responded to the area where the shots originated from and, once there, located an individual, a male victim in his twenties, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested Celso Depina, 23, of Boston and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder.
