One Less Gun: BPD Officers Recover Firearm and Place Three In Custody After Armed Robbery in Mattapan

At about 6:45 PM on Wednesday October 26, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force placed three suspects in custody and recovered a firearm after responding to a call for an armed robbery in the area of 885 Cummings Highway in Mattapan.  During the incident, an adult male victim was approached by three suspects, later identified as Diamodez Pierre, 18, Hyde Park, a 17 year old juvenile male from Dedham and a 17 year old juvenile male from Mattapan, robbed him at gunpoint before fleeing the area of foot.  The officers located the suspects a short time later in the area of 566 River Street and as they approached, one of the suspects, the 17 year old juvenile from Mattapan, took off running.  The officers were able to catch up to the suspect after a brief foot pursuit at which time a violent struggle ensued.  As the officers were struggling with the suspect, he repeatedly attempted to reach inside his jacket pocket.  One of the officers could feel a firearm inside the jacket and fought to control the suspect’s hands to prevent him from grabbing the weapon.  The officers were eventually able to place the juvenile suspect in custody and safely recover a 7.55 caliber Pietro Beretta handgun from inside his jacket.  Officers also recovered property which belonged to the victim.  The two additional suspects were placed in custody without incident after being positively identified.  

All three suspects are scheduled to appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment.  Diamodez Pierre will be charged with Armed Robbery while the 17 year old juvenile suspect from Dedham will be charged with Delinquent to Wit:  Armed Robbery.  The 17 year old juvenile suspect from Mattapan will be charged with Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Armed Robbery.
