Great Work Recognized: Two Detail Officers Honored After Performing CPR During Medical Emergency in Boston

During a recent ceremony held at Boston Police Headquarters, two officers received commendations after taking lifesaving measures which prevented a tragedy. At about 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2016, Sergeant Lucas Taxter and Officer James O’Connor assigned to District D-4 (South End) were working a paid detail at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street near Fenway Park when they responded to a medical emergency behind the venue. The officers were directed to the rear alley where they observed a 17 year old female in cardiac arrest being attended to by staff members. The officers immediately began to administer CPR and continued to do so until additional medical personnel from the Boston Fire Department and Boston EMS arrived on scene. After what seemed like an eternity, the team of first responders felt a pulse and the victim was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment and evaluation. For their life saving actions, both are hereby awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.  Great work gentlemen.
