One Less Gun: Officers Recover Another Loaded Firearm After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 11:00 AM on Monday, August 9, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite warrant and firearm arrest after conducting a traffic stop in the area of 141 Norfolk Street in Dorchester.  The officers had stopped an improperly registered motor vehicle when they learned that the passenger, Kenneth Cobb, 27, of Dorchester, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Distribution of Class D Drugs.  When the officers removed the suspect from the car to place him in custody, they immediately felt a gun in his waistband.  One officer maintained a grip on the weapon while a second officer secured the suspect.  The officers then removed a loaded .45 caliber Ruger P90DC handgun from the waistband of the suspect’s pants.  The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd & Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

Officers then towed the motor vehicle from the scene and summonsed the operator to appear in Dorchester District Court for Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
