IN THE NEWS: Read about the BPD Officer and his plan to help single moms in the South End

IN THE NEWS: Thanks to Boston Herald reporter Kathleen McKiernan for the positive piece in today’s Herald spotlighting Officer Jorge Dias of District D-4 (South End) and his efforts to help single moms living in the South End/Roxbury communities. According to Dias, who was raised his by single mom, if you want to help the moms, you have to help the kids as well. Said Dias: “Most of the problems we see with gang members is they are raised by single mothers. Some have two to three children. That’s a tough task. Sadly, there’s not a male role model in the house. What do we do to strengthen moms? Sometimes, all she needs is a little time to herself to regroup.”
