BPD Headquarters Illuminated in Green in Remembrance of Honorary Boston Police Officer 6-year-old Devin Suau

Seven days ago, on Friday, October 20, 2017, the men and women of the Boston Police Department were saddened to learn that honorary Boston Police Officer 6-year-old Devin Suau lost his battle with pediatric cancer (DIPG). Few of us will ever forget the image, energy and joy of the little boy in the little blue police uniform riding high atop the BPD SWAT Truck during last year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Devin found himself leading the parade, riding front and center for all to see, after being named both an honorary Boston Police Officer and Grand Marshall for the parade by Mayor Walsh and Commissioner Evans. On Friday, October 27, 2017, Devin would have celebrated his 7th birthday. While attending Devin’s funeral service this past Tuesday, both the Mayor and Commissioner saw that many of those who turned out to pay their respects were wearing green ties, shirts and dresses. Upon learning that Devin’s favorite color was green in keeping with his love of his favorite superhero - the Green Lantern, the Mayor and Commissioner immediately moved to have both City Hall and Boston Police Headquarters illuminated in Devin's favorite color to both celebrate the birthday and life of a little boy who’s courage, strength and determination will live on in all of us for years and years to come.
