One Less Gun: Sixteen-year-old Arrested for Firearm Offenses in West Roxbury

At about 11:15 AM today, Friday, November 17, 2017, officers responded to a call to assist school police officers at West Roxbury High School on VFW Parkway in District E-5 (West Roxbury).

Upon arrival, officers were advised that school administrators had been informed that a particular student may be in possession of a firearm. The administrators immediately contacted the Boston School Police who in turn contacted the Boston Police Department. The officers were quickly able to stop the student and recover the loaded handgun from the student's backpack. The 16-year-old female was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

"I'd like to commend the school administration, the Boston School Police officers, and my officers for how they handled this case," said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. "They followed protocol to a T and were able to safely and swiftly apprehend this student and recover the firearm without further incident."
