Daily Dose of Great Police Work: BPD Officers in Hyde Park Arrest Suspect After Armed Robbery in Cleary Square


At about 6:19 PM on Wednesday, May 17. 2017, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) made an onsite arrest after an armed robbery in the area of 1266 River Street in Hyde Park. Officers responded to a report of a robbery by a suspect armed with a taser at the Metro PCS Wireless store which is located approximately 300 feet away from the district police station. Shortly the incident, an officers observed a suspect matching the given description, later identified as Julian Daniels, 62, of Boston, operating a motor scooter and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The suspect failed to stop for the officer and continued riding until he lost control of the scooter in the area of Rosewood Street at which time additional units arrived on scene and placed the suspect in custody after a brief struggle. Officers then safely recovered a functioning taser from the suspect as well as cash which was taken during the robbery. The suspect has since been arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Armed Robbery, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to wit: Taser -2 Counts), Failure to Stop for a Police Officer and Operating After Revocation or Suspension.
