Keeping Boston Safe: BPD Officers Make Swift Arrest After Attempted Unarmed Robbery of an Elderly Woman


At about 3:34 PM on Thursday June 8, 2017, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in progress outside of 465 Columbus Avenue. 

On arrival, officers met with the victim who informed officers that she was pushed into the building wall and down to the ground by a male and the suspect was trying to take her money. Officers observed that the victim was bleeding from her head and Boston EMS transported the victim to the hospital for further treatment.  A description of the suspect was broadcast and officers searched the surrounding area. Officers observed a male fitting the description and approached him. Officers spoke with other witnesses, who informed the officer that they saw the incident and were able to positively identify the suspect.

Ramon Miranda, 32, of Boston was placed under arrest for Attempted Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery on an elderly person with injuries.
