BPD in the Community: Commissioner Gross Stops by the Michael Bivins HS Basketball Jamboree for Peace at Madison Park High School: On Sunday, October 14, 2018, Commissioner Gross had the pleasure of catching up with one of Boston’s favorite sons and music legend, Michael Bivins of Bell Biv Devoe and New Edition fame, earlier today when he stopped by Madison Park High School to offer his support and praise for the Michael Bivins High School Basketball Jamboree for Peace which consisted of 16 teams, both boys and girls, from Boston and surrounding areas. Said Commissioner Gross, “I want to thank Michael Bivins for never forgetting where he came from. This is a man who knows and understands when life is good, there’s an obligation to give something back to the community that supported you. And, if you ask me, there’s no better way to give something back than providing our city’s young people a safe place to play a game they love while promoting peace in our community at the same time.” Earlier this year, on August 10, 2018, the Commissioner was also in attendance when the city officially dedicated and named the newly refurbished basketball court at Ramsay Park in honor of Michael Bivins. That court is forever known as: the Michael L. Bivins Basketball Court.
