Officers Arrest One Suspect on Gun Related Charges in Dorchester


At about 7:16PM on Monday, October 8, 2018, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 616 Columbia Road,

Dorchester. While on patrol, officers observed a blue motor vehicle make an abrupt lane change at an accelerated speed. Officers conducted a query of the above-mentioned motor vehicle which revealed the vehicle did not have a valid Massachusetts Inspection Sticker. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop in the area of 616 Columbia Road for violation of the Massachusetts Auto Laws.  

Officers approached the driver, later identified as, Jamal Escobar, 24 of Everett and it was revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s license.  During the motor vehicle inventory search officers recovered a backpack containing a brown firearm. Escobar was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License.

 Escobar will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
