One Less Gun: Suspect in Custody and Loaded Firearm Recovered After Vehicle Flees Traffic Stop in Dorchester


One Less Gun: At about 11:00 PM on Sunday November 11, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Aaron Bailey, 39, of Dorchester, on firearm and motor vehicle related charges in the area of 15 Adams Street in Dorchester. Officers were on routine patrol when they stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation in the area of Columbia Road and Quincy Street. As the officers were approaching to speak with the operator, the suspect vehicle suddenly sped off. The suspect vehicle was observed colliding with another motorist and a parked motor vehicle while fleeing, causing minor damage. Officers soon located the stopped suspect vehicle and removed the operator at which time they observed a firearm directly underneath the driver’s side door. The suspect was placed in custody without incident and the firearm, determined to be a loaded 9mm AMT Backup Kurz handgun, was safely recovered. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd & Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, along with numerous motor vehicle related offenses including Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Property Damage (2 Counts) and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
