ONE LESS GUN: At about 10:40am, on Monday, November 19, 2018, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of Temple Place and Tremont Street. Officers further learned that the suspect was seen threatening another individual with the firearm. On arrival, officers observed an individual fitting the description of the suspect. Upon seeing the approaching officers, the suspect took off running. While bravely running behind the suspect, officers noted that the individual was displaying behavior indicative of a person in possession of a firearm. Specifically, officers noted that the suspect was running with his left arm pinned to the front of his body in such a way as if to suggest he was holding a firearm.

Officers then observed the suspect toss an object over a fence in the area of Music Hall Place. A search of the area after the suspect was taken into custody enabled officers to find and confiscate a firearm (see photo).

Officers chased the suspect into the Corner Mall Food Court where he was later apprehended while hiding in a bathroom stall on the 1st floor of the mall. A search of the suspect also enabled officers to recover over 20 small plastic bags of a Class D Drug (Marijuana). Officers arrested Junior Louis, 20, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug.

The firearm was later identified as a Ruger 22SR.
