Shotgun Recovered After Suspect Attempts to Run Down Police Officer in West Roxbury: At about 1:30PM, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, an officer performing a paid detail in front of the Roche Brothers Supermarket located at 1800 Centre Street in West Roxbury observed a motor vehicle illegally parked and blocking the front entrance to the market. In a show of good will, instead of issuing a written citation and towing the vehicle, the officer entered the store and asked store employees to use the in-store public address system to ask the owner of the car to move the vehicle. In short time, the owner exited the store and returned to his vehicle. When the officer approached the operator to make him aware of the fact that a citation could have been written, the operator ignored the officer, jumped into his vehicle and took off at a high rate of speed while almost striking the officer. The officer immediately broadcast a description of the car over the police radio. In short time, responding officers learned that the vehicle was last seen travelling on South Street towards Washington Street. While en route to that location, officers were informed that the suspect had struck several cars while fleeing the area. Officers were able to locate the suspect after he struck a vehicle and then a light pole in the area of Bexley Road in Roslindale. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take the suspect into custody. A search of the suspect’s vehicle enabled officers to locate and confiscate a loaded Browning 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun which was found lying on the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Officers arrested Michael Robicheau, 57, of West Roxbury and charged him with Refusing to Stop for a Police Officer, Driving to Endanger, Operating on a Revoked/Suspended License, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Car), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Leaving the Scene after Causing Property Damage and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in West Roxbury District Court.
