Commissioner Gross Promotes the Seventh Female in BPD History to the Rank of Captain

On Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Boston Police Headquarters, Commissioner William G. Gross had the distinct pleasure of promoting Lieutenant Therese Kozmiski to the rank of Captain.  In attendance were Mayor Walsh, members of the BPD Command Staff, women and men of the Boston Police Department, family and friends.

This historic ceremony represents the seventh female in the Boston Police Department to achieve this accomplishment.  Captain Kozmiski has risen through the ranks during her 22-years with the BPD working in different roles throughout the city.

Said Commissioner Gross, “The Boston Police Department is proud to continue to lead the way in promoting diversity within it’s ranks.  Today marks another timepoint in history that will enable us to excel at seeing value in every member of our department regardless of sex, race, creed or sexual orientation.”
