One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Two and Recover Loaded Firearm Following Traffic Stop and Foot Chase in Dorchester

ONE LESS GUN: At about 2:14 PM on Monday, December 17, 2018, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street in Dorchester. While on directed patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle which had failed to stop at a red light. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and while the motor vehicle initially stopped, the operator fled into a parking lot in the area. Officers observed the male passenger suddenly exit the vehicle and flee on foot while clutching an apparent object in his waistband.

Following a brief pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the male suspect and recover a black Sar-Arms semi-automatic 9mm firearm loaded with 24 live rounds of ammunition. A second magazine containing 9 rounds of live ammunition was recovered at the scene as well. During the apprehension of the male passenger, the operator of the motor vehicle had also fled the area, but was located and placed under arrest.  

Officers arrested Alonzo Dedrick, 55-years-old of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Armed Career Criminal, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B (Drugs), and Resisting Arrest. Officers additionally arrested the operator of the motor vehicle, Frank Cinelli, 46-years-old, of Boston and charged him with Speeding and Failure to Stop for a Police Officer. Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
