One Less Gun: At about 8:30 PM on Saturday December 22, 2018, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Travaun Daley, 26, of Dorchester on firearm and drug related charges in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Lagrange Place in Dorchester. Officers were in the area in response to a call for shots fired in the area of 41 Blue Hill Avenue when they observed the suspect walking quickly while looking back over his shoulder towards Dudley Street and clutching the front waistband area of his pants. As the officers continued to monitor the suspect, they observed him discard an unidentified object underneath a parked car before taking off running down Blue Hill Avenue. Officers stopped the suspect a short distance later and placed him in custody after returning to the parked motor vehicle where they safely recovered a loaded 9mm Springfield Armory XD-9 handgun with a defaced serial number. Officers then performed a pat frisk of the suspect at which time they recovered four small plastic bags of crack cocaine from inside his pants pocket. It was not determined at the time of his arrest if the suspect had any involvement in the possible shots fired call. The suspect will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.
