Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Two Suspects in Custody After Brandishing Replica Firearm During Armed Robbery in Roxbury


At about 9:08 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested two suspects after responding to a call for an armed robbery in the area of 209 Roxbury Street. During the incident, two male victims were approached by two male suspects, one armed with a firearm, who robbed them of two cell phones and a pair of sneakers before fleeing in an SUV. One of the victims was struck in the face by one of the men but was not injured and refused medical attention. Responding officers observed a vehicle that matched the given description travelling on Putnam Street and performed a traffic stop. Officers removed the two occupants and performed a pat frisk which led to the recovery of a replica firearm (Professional .45 cal air gun) from inside the vehicle. Officers also located and recovered the stolen property at which time both suspects were placed in custody without incident. The two suspects, Yusuf Jama, 18, of South Boston, and Ayub Ahmed, 21, of Boston, will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery.
