Arrest Made in Connection to Recent Shooting on Copeland Street in Roxbury


At about 12:09 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 10 Copeland Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located several adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were quickly transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries which were considered to be life threatening.

A short time later, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Anthony Sheffield, 30, of Roxbury, as he fled the scene on foot after safely recovering a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun. At the time, the suspect was placed in custody on firearm related charges. Homicide detectives, in a coordinated effort involving the BPD Firearm Analysis Unit and Latent Prints department have now brought additional charges against the suspect.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder (3 Counts), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
