One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest Two Suspects and Recover Two Loaded Firearms During Two Separate Incidents in Less Than One Hour

INCIDENT #1: At about 1:29 AM on Saturday July 28, 2018, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Rufus Wornum, 33, of Dorchester, on firearm related charges after conducting a motor vehicle stop in the area of Annabel Street and Columbia Road in Dorchester. The officers had stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and were speaking to the occupants when they discovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson model 5W9YE handgun on the floor of the front passenger compartment where the suspect was seated. The suspect was placed in custody without incident and will face arraignment in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. All charges are indicated as 3rd and subsequent for the offender.

INCIDENT #2: At about 2:05 AM on Saturday July 28, 2018, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Corey Reynolds, 18, of Hyde Park, on firearm related charges during an investigation in the area of 3 Chamblet Street in Roxbury. The officers were on patrol when they stopped their vehicle to speak with a group of individuals gathered in front of the above address. As the officers approached, the suspect immediately took off running while clutching at the waistband area of his pants. The officers pursued the suspect and placed him in custody without incident at which time they recovered a fully loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson MP40 Shield handgun from the waistband of his pants. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
