Keeping Boston Safe: BPD Officers Arrest Suspect on Gun-related Charges in Mattapan

ONE LESS GUN: At about 5:25 pm, on Thursday, August 16, 2018, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area Deering Road and Harvard Street. According to the BPD Police Dispatcher, after displaying the firearm, the suspect jumped into a white SUV with New York plates and fled the area. In short time, officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle seen fleeing the area. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the vehicle in the area of 106 American Legion Highway. While approaching the vehicle, officers had difficulty seeing into the car given fact that the vehicle’s windows were heavily tinted. As such, officers instructed the operator to open all the vehicle’s windows. With the windows down, officers quickly observed four occupants inside the car. Based on the severity of the call and heightened level of danger confronting the officers given the potential presence of a firearm, officers ordered the occupants to exit the vehicle. While pat frisking one of the occupants, officers felt and took possession of a loaded firearm (see photo). The firearm, with 6 rounds in the cylinder, was later determined to be an Armscor M206 .38 Caliber Revolver.

Officers arrested Chawki Ibrahim, 18, of Quincy and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
