Keeping Boston Safe: Search Warrant Leads to the Arrest of Two Suspects after Recovery of Guns and Drugs

On Friday, August 03, 2017, Officers in the E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit, culminated a several month long drug investigation from 70 O’Callaghan Way in South Boston (McCormack Housing Development) by executing multiple search warrants.  At about 1:15 PM, officers observed the suspect exit the front door of 70 O’Callaghan Way and begin to walk towards his vehicle parked on O’Callaghan Way near the intersection of Old Colony Avenue. Just before the suspect reached his vehicle an officer approached on foot and stopped him in order to execute the search warrant for his person. Upon execution of this search warrant, officer recovered a cell phone, key ring with house and car keys, and 2 small plastic bags of cocaine. Freuly Cabral, 24, was placed under arrest. Officers then proceeded to the house to make a peaceful entry, knocked and announced their office and purpose before entering. As officers entered, they were greeted by a female who stated that they were the only one’s home except for her boyfriend who was upstairs in their bedroom. Officers meanwhile had proceeded upstairs while conducting a protective sweep and encountered Marfry Cabral, 20, laying in bed. Marfry was then brought downstairs and all suspects were secured around the kitchen table. As a result of the search warrant the following items of were seized:

  • Small blue (FW-ES600) digital scale
  • A black and pink Walther PK380 firearm and a magazine containing eight live .380 cartridges
  • A black “AWS” digital scale
  • $1,340.00 US Currency
  • 2 gabapentin pills
  • A passport and birth certificate
  • A black “Digi Weigh” digital scale
  • PA state driver’s license
  • MA junior operator’s license
  • 2 large plastic bags of cocaine weighing about 35 grams
  • A black “CR” digital scale with heavy cocaine residue
  • Two 9mm magazines loaded with 8 live 9mm luger cartridges each (16 total)
  • An open box of “Glad” baggies
  • Two boxes of “Hefty” baggies in black plastic grocery bag
  • Box containing Magic Bullet blender, bottle of Inositol cutting agent and baggies
  • Two large empty vacuum seal marijuana bags
  • Large Mason jar containing about 21 grams of loose marijuana
  • A black Glock 9mm firearm loaded with 15 live 9mm cartridges
  • A Glock gun box containing a large capacity magazine and 5 live 9mm cartridges
  • Two large plastic humidity control containers with heavy marijuana residue
  • Mail, a photo ID, and a pay stub

Freuly Cabral and Marfry Cabral were placed under arrest and complaints to be sought against them in South Boston District Court for the following: 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking Class B Drugs (Cocaine) over 18 grams, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs (marijuana), Possession of Class E Drugs (Gabapentin)
