ONE LESS GUN: At about 2:46AM, on Sunday, August, 5 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 53 Stanwood Street in Roxbury. Officers were initially responding to the area of 140 Stanwood Street for a large group of people leaving a party. As officers exited their motor vehicle to disperse the crowd, they observed a male, later identified as Mario Regis, 36, of Holbrook, MA., walking down the street in their direction. Officers observed Mario Regis talking on his phone which was in his right hand, but then took his left hand, reached across his body to the area above his waistband on his right side. Officers observed a protrusion on the right side of Regis’ waistband, conducted a pat frisk, and immediately recovered a black Glock 26 from Regis’ waistband.

After refusing several times to place his hands behind his back, officers were eventually able to safely place Mario Regis under arrest. The Glock 26 had a 17 round magazine inserted, containing 14 live 9mm rounds, and 1 live 9mm round in the chamber. Mario Regis was charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
