The Boston Police Department Remembers Patrolman Walter A. Schroeder

On September, 24, 1970, Boston Police Officer Walter A. Schroeder was killed in the line of duty while responding to a silent bank alarm in the area of Western Avenue and Everett Street in Allston. Officer Schroeder suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officer Schroeder’s brother, Detective John Schroeder was also killed in the line of duty three years later in 1973.   The Boston Police Headquarters Building, One Schroeder Plaza, is named in honor of both brothers who lost their lives protecting and serving the City of Boston.
