UPDATE: BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Non-Fatal Shooting of 15-Year-Old Girl in Mattapan

Earlier this morning, at about 10:50 AM on Thursday September 27, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested John Jackson, 24, of Mattapan, who was wanted in connection to a non-fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Mattapan. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to wit: gun), Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 11:34 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 998 Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan. During the incident, the suspect was seen entering the store and requesting the bathroom key. Witnesses heard a noise best described as a "bang" in the bathroom and saw the 15-year-old female victim on the floor. The suspect was observed leaving the store slowly and then running down Blue Hill Avenue towards Callender Street. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
