Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Suspect in Custody After Boston Police and Boston Fire Respond to Three Suspicious Fires in Dorchester


Between the hours of 1:00 AM and 2:30 AM on Monday September 3, 2018, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) and members of the Boston Fire Department responded to three suspicious fires in Dorchester. Officers and fire fighters initially responded to a call for an oil truck fully engulfed in flames in the area of 87 Norwell Street. Approximately ten minutes later, a second fire was reported in a trash barrel on Waterlow Street which was quickly extinguished. At about 2:30 AM, officers were called to the area of 90 Norwell Street where a resident stated that they had observed a male suspect enter their backyard, pile up several items against a fence and light them on fire. Soon after, a BPD K-9 Officer located a suspect matching the given description in the area of Radcliffe Street and Vassar Street and placed him in custody without incident after he was positively identified. As a result of a investigation by the Fire Investigations Unit which consists of investigators from the Boston Police and Boston Fire, Sequonie Suarez, 27, of Dorchester, will be charged in Dorchester District Court on charges of Arson of a Motor Vehicle, Burning Personal Property (2 Counts) and Trespassing.
