Keeping Boston Safe: Officers Arrest Male in Connection to Shooting in Dorchester


Keeping Boston Safe: At about 12:24 PM on Monday, September 3, 2018, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Dorchester Avenue and Centre Street in Dorchester. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, unable to provide officers with additional information, was then transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers and detectives on scene located a blood trail which led to a residence in the area. Officers arrived at the residence and further observed blood in the threshold and vestibule area of the residence. Further investigation and a protective sweep of the residence led to the recovery of of two firearms, a loaded Ravens Arm P25 firearm with a spent shell casing and a Raven Arms MP25 with an obliterated serial number. Officers subsequently placed Javohn Redrick, 26-years-old of Brockton, under arrest. Redrick is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Firearm Discharged within 500 feet of a Dwelling.

Redrick is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
