Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Victim Pulled from Submerged Vehicle by Boston Police Officer

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: On Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 6:16 pm, officers responded to a radio call for a car in the river at Beacon Street and Charlesgate West. Upon arrival officers were directed by several witnesses who were standing on the sidewalk pointing to a vehicle that had driven off of Charlesgate West and down the embankment into the river. Officers observed the operator of the vehicle seated in the driver's seat sitting up to his chest in the water. The driver's window was open and the vehicle appeared to be taking on more water. An officer entered the extremely cold water without regard for his own safety and pulled the operator out of the driver's seat and out of the water. The victim was pulled up the bank where he was treated by Boston EMS.

Said Commissioner Gross: “This represents another example of the excellent training that the officers of the Boston Police Department receive and the commitment they have to help anyone in need in the City of Boston.”
