Off-Duty Officer Aids in the Arrest of Two Knife-Wielding Juveniles Outside of a Hyde Park Restaurant

 

SAFER BOSTON: At about 4:05 PM, on Thursday, October 3, 2019, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park), responded to a radio call to assist an off-duty Boston Police Officer who had witnessed a fight in the parking lot of the McDonald’s located at 1312 Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park.

The two suspects, combatants in an altercation, had knives in their hands and were attempting to stab each other. Those suspects were later identified as a 15-year-old juvenile male of Hyde Park and a 16- year-old juvenile male of Roxbury.

The off-duty officer was able to intervene and gain custody of the 15-year-old juvenile while the other suspect fled on foot. However, the fleeing suspect was quickly apprehended a few blocks away by responding units. Officers recovered two knives and placed both juveniles under arrest charging them with: Delinquent to wit: Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). Both are expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury Juvenile Court.
