At about 5:25 PM, on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Tyrese Sealy, 18, of Roxbury, on firearm related charges in the area of the Trotter Playground located at Humboldt Avenue and Waumbeck Street in Roxbury.
The officers were on patrol when they observed a suspect who matched the description from a recent wanted bulletin for an armed robbery with a firearm that took place in the area of 160 Humboldt Avenue on October 6, 2019. As officers entered the playground, the suspect quickly fled the scene and a foot chase ensued down Waumbeck Street towards Harold Street. While continuing their pursuit, the officers observed the suspect reach into his waist area and throw an object into a driveway on Harold Street. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect at which time they recovered the discarded object which was determined to be a .380 caliber Taurus TCP ACP handgun with 1 round in the chamber and 6 rounds in the magazine.
The suspect will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Dangerous Weapons Unlawfully Carried, Possession of a Firearm Obliterated Serial Number and Trespassing.
