BPD Bids Farewell to BPD K-9 After 12 Years of Dedicated Service Protecting and Safeguarding the Citizens of Boston

BPD Bids Farewell to BPD K-9 After 12 Years of Dedicated Service to the Citizens of Boston: The men and women of the BPD would like to acknowledge and thank BPD-K9, Charlie, a beautiful black Labrador Retriever who is calling it a career and turning in his retirement papers after 12 years of protecting and serving the citizens of Boston in his role as a canine trained in both the detection of firearms and explosive devices. In fact, on Charlie’s first day as a member of the BPD K-9 Unit, he helped sniff out and recover 3 guns. Not a bad first day. And, as his handler tells it, Charlie’s first day was a prophetic indication of the long, successful career to come. On behalf of a grateful city, we say, “Thank you for always keeping us safe, Charlie.”
