Officers Arrest One and Recover Stolen Motor Vehicle Following Violent Struggle in Dorchester

At about 10:39 PM on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite arrest and recovered a stolen motor vehicle in the area of 17 Kenberma Road in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of the above location, officers observed a motor vehicle they recognized as having been stolen. A query of the registration led officers to confirm the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Malden and had not yet been recovered. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the operator who stated he did not know who the vehicle belonged to. At this time, the operator opened the driver’s door and began exiting the vehicle. Officers told the suspect he was under arrest. The male immediately became combative and violently resisted officers attempts to place the suspect in handcuffs. Following a lengthy, violent struggle which consisted of the suspect punching and gouging officers in the face, the suspect was taken into custody.

Officers arrested Malik Johnson-Mignott, 25-years-old of Dorchester. Johnson-Mignott is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
