Commissioner Gross Places Two Superior Officers on Administrative Leave Due to Time & Attendance Issues

Commissioner Gross Places Two Superior Officers on Administrative Leave Due to Time & Attendance Issues: On Friday, February 15, 2019, Police Commissioner William G. Gross placed two supervisors assigned to the Evidence Management Unit of the Boston Police Department on administrative leave due to an ongoing investigation into time and attendance issues. This investigation is currently being conducted by the Department's Internal Affairs Unit and the matter has also been referred to the District Attorney's Office for further review.

While the two supervisors that have been placed on leave are assigned to the Evidence Management Unit, the Department is confident this is contained solely to an administrative issue and that the integrity of evidence stored at this location has not been affected or impacted.

"This alleged behavior is unacceptable for any member of the Boston Police Department," said Commissioner Gross. "As Commissioner, I want to make it clear to every officer that any action that goes against our rules and regulations will not be tolerated - without exception."

To ensure full compliance with the Department's policies, Commissioner Gross has ordered a proactive and ongoing review of payroll for every district and unit. In addition, Commissioner Gross is meeting with all commanders to make abundantly clear the rules and expectations surrounding time, attendance and reporting for duty at the Department.
