KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 1:10 AM, on Saturday, March 2, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown Boston) arrested Israel Chery, 24, of Somerville and Jerome Belle, 24, of Randolph, on firearm related charges after responding to a disturbance in the area of 100 Warrenton Street in Boston. On arrival, officers were informed and advised by staff of the Icon Nightclub that the two suspects had been removed from the establishment after being involved in a verbal altercation with a group of patrons inside. Once the two were outside of the club, Jerome Belle was observed retrieving a handgun from a nearby parked motor vehicle and handing it to Israel Chery as the two then walked together towards Stuart Street. Officers soon located and stopped Israel Chery at the corner of Warrenton Street and Stuart Street at which time a violent struggle ensued. The suspect was eventually placed in custody with the assistance of numerous responding officers at which time a loaded .40 caliber Glock 23 Gen 4 handgun (see photo) was recovered from the suspect’s right jacket pocket. Officers continued to search the area and soon located the second suspect, Jerome Belle, in a parked motor vehicle where he was placed in custody without incident. Both suspects will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
