One Less Gun: At about 8:26 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2019, officers assigned to District A-15 (Charlestown) made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm following a traffic stop in the area of Monument Street and Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown. While on patrol in the area of the above location, officers observed a motor vehicle operating with excessive tints on the windows and an expired registration decal. Officers approached the vehicle and immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. While speaking with the operator, officers observed the passenger with a green substance believed to be marijuana inside of a tray between his feet. At this time, both the operator and passenger were removed from the vehicle. Inside of the rear climate control panel, officers subsequently located a black Smith & Wesson .32 long revolver loaded with six rounds of live ammunition. The operator of the motor vehicle was taken into custody while the passenger was identified and released from the scene.

Officers arrested Laron Richardson, 30-years-old, of Brockton. Richardson is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Open Container of Marijuana in a Vehicle.
