Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick Response Leads to Arrest After Violent, Unprovoked Assault Downtown

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: At about 1:37 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in the area of 1 Franklin Street, Downtown. On arrival, officers located a male victim covered in blood, suffering from a deep laceration to his forehead. Officers spoke to the victim and a female witness who stated they were walking on Washington Street towards Summer Street when an unknown Hispanic male approached them and punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. The female witness pursued the suspect who fled the area.

Additional units arrived on scene and searched the area for the male matching the description of the suspect who was located a short time later near the Chinatown Train Station. Upon being positively identified as the suspect, the male became increasingly agitated and began to violently struggle with officers, kicking and thrashing his body while inside the rear of the patrol wagon. Eventually, officers were able to secure the male who was transported to the station where he refused to be booked.

Officers arrested Luis Andino, 25-years-old, of South Boston. Andino is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery Causing Bodily Injury and Resting Arrest.
