Suspect in Custody and Loaded Firearm Recovered in Connection to December Non-Fatal Shooting in Jamaica Plain

At about 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 30, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force located and arrested Willie Barnes, 20, of Roslindale, as part of an ongoing investigation in the area of 504 Dudley Street in Roxbury. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant on charges of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Armed Career Criminal - Level 1. The warrant was issued out of Roxbury District Court after officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a non-fatal shooting of an adult male victim on Saturday December 1, 2018, in the area of 98 Heath Street in Jamaica Plain.

Officers then executed a search warrant of the suspect’s residence on Metropolitan Avenue in Roslindale which led to the recovery of a loaded .45 caliber Ruger SR45 with obliterated serial number and a large capacity drum-style feeding device along with evidence related to the shooting.

The suspect will face arraignment in Roxbury District Court on the above listed charges.
