Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested for 2018 Homicide in Dorchester

Investigation Update: On Monday, April 8, 2019 detectives assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit assisted by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Canton Police, arrested Gregory Simmons, 26-years-old, of Dorchester on an active warrant out of Dorchester District Court for charges of Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery while Masked, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Simmons also has multiple active warrants out of Stoughton District Court on charges of Armed Robbery.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 11:35 PM on Saturday October 6, 2018, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the sound of gunfire while on patrol in the area of 528 Washington Street in Dorchester. Officers located Jose Williams, 67-years-old, of Dorchester suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, suffering life threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased
