BPD Public Safety Reminder: Safe Exchange Zones for E-Commerce Transactions Are Located at All District Stations Across the City

BPD Public Safety Reminder: As the number of residents buying and selling goods online continues to increase, so too do the potential risks associated with these types of transactions. Earlier this month, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to two separate calls during which victims were robbed by a person they had agreed to meet via an electronic commerce website. During one of these robberies, the masked suspect displayed and discharged a firearm in an indiscriminate direction. Thankfully, there were no resulting injuries reported. Both of these incidents continue to be investigated by district detectives.

Incidents such as these can be avoided and prevented by utilizing a BPD “Safe Exchange Zone” which are located at every Boston Police District Station across the city as well as BPD Headquarters. These areas are monitored via security video and available 24 hours a day.
