Two Arrested for Armed Robbery by Knife in Dorchester


At about 7:44 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest of two individuals in the area of Geneva Avenue and Columbia Road in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of the aforementioned location, officers were approached by a male victim who stated he had just been robbed of his cell phone. The victim provided a description of the two male suspects and the motor vehicle in which they were operating. The victim further stated he was approached by the two males, one of whom held a knife to the victim while the other male went through the victim’s pockets and removed his cell phone. The suspects fled the area in a red motor vehicle toward Wayland Street. Officers searched the area for the vehicle which they were able to locate in traffic near the intersection of Columbia Road and Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.  Both the operator and passenger were identified as the suspects who had robbed the victim. Officers located the victim’s cell phone which had been discarded on Ceylon Street. 

Officers arrested Jikhalil Smith, 24-years-old, of Dorchester and Gus Braggs Jr., 22-years-old, of Roxbury. Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. Smith and Braggs are both charged with Armed Robbery while Braggs faces an additional charge of Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
