One Less Gun: At about 3:05 AM on Friday, May 17, 2019 officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Ingleside Street in Roxbury. While on patrol in the area of the aforementioned location, officers observed a motor vehicle completely blocking the crosswalk while waiting at a stop light at the intersection of West Cottage Street and Blue Hill Avenue. Officers conducted a traffic stop for the infraction of blocking the crosswalk. While approaching the motor vehicle, officers observed the passenger quickly duck down and then back up. A query of the operator’s license led officers to the discovery it had been suspended. At this time, with neither the operator nor the passenger possessing a valid driver’s license, officers removed both parties from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle before being towed allowed officers to locate a Charter Arms .38 Special Undercover revolver loaded with five rounds of live ammunition from a handbag on the floor in front of the passenger’s seat. The passenger was taken into custody. The operator was released from the scene with a citation and will be charged with Operating After Suspension.
Officers arrested Justin Martin, 25-years-old, of Milton. Martin is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Subsequent Offense.
