One in Custody After Loaded Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop in Roxbury

 

At about 1:49 AM on Saturday May 19, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest during a traffic stop in the area of Warren Street and Walnut Street in Roxbury. The officers were on directed patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. As the officers were approaching the vehicle, they observed the operator, later identified as Lorne Dyson, 51, of Avon, discard an unknown object underneath the driver’s seat. Officers conducted their investigation and removed the operator to perform a pat frisk which led to the recovery of loaded 9mm Kel-Tec P-11 handgun with a defaced serial number from inside the vehicle. The suspect was immediately placed in custody without incident. The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number.
