Traffic Stop in Jamaica Plain Leads to Gun Arrest

At about 12:02 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2019, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain), initiated a traffic stop of a motor vehicle with excessive tint on all windows including the windshield. As officers approached the motor vehicle, they could smell the strong scent of marijuana. Once speaking to the occupants of the motor vehicle, officers immediately observed a small bag of the drug near the passenger, later identified as Jamal Garcia, 18, of Revere.  Also observed next to Garcia’s leg was a black and pink bag that appeared to have the outline of a firearm. Officers removed the passenger from the motor vehicle and recovered a loaded Glock semi-automatic pistol with 10 live rounds in the magazine.

Jamal Garcia was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Dangerous Weapons Unlawfully Carried, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court
