BPD Officers Arrest Male on Weapons Charges in Dorchester


At about 11:57 PM, on Sunday, May 26, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 70 Ames Street, Dorchester.

While in route, officers observed a male fitting the description of the suspect given out by the dispatcher. As officers exited their cruiser, the suspect immediately fled on foot into a nearby hallway and was apprehended a short time later by officers.

The suspect, later identified as Tahsean Kirkland, 31, of Dorchester was arrested on weapons charges after officers observed a black case hidden in an access panel in the hallway. Officers recovered a loaded V. Bernardelli .22 caliber Long, with 1 round in the chamber and 4 rounds in the magazine.

Tahsean Kirkland was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Dangerous Weapons Unlawfully Carried. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court
